The story of PSH

I started Psycho Social Hour after realizing my female + nonbinary clients needed more than therapy - they needed a place to practice the skills they learned and a community to support their growth.

This community was built for freaks, weirdos, women who don’t have the best support system, people who love to learn about psychology but still feel alone. People living with CPTSD. LGBTIA people and people with neurodivergence. Everyone is welcome!

This is a progressive, accepting place where hate will not be tolerated.

My Specialties

  • You’re not crazy; you were born into chaos.

    Unfortunately, familiarity = psychological safety.

You don’t attract the wrong people - your nervous system is used to chaos.

I help people break generational patterns that keep us stuck.

  • As an AUDHDer myself, I get the struggle.

It feels like people intentionally misunderstand you.

Like you’re playing a game, and no one told you the rules - or that you were even playing in the first place.

  • I understand what it’s like not to be heard by medical professionals, possibly by the people in your life too.

I’m here to help carry that weight when things get heavy.

  • Every woman remembers how it felt being a teen transitioning into womanhood.

Finding yourself, getting used to your changing body, and the emergence of romantic relationships.

I help teens gain confidence and discernment as they move into the adult world.

  • Being in a relationship is hard - it’s a lot harder than being single. You’re forced to face yourself and sometimes that stings.

I enjoy helping people reconnect with each other in creative new ways.

    Alternative relationship styles always welcome!

  • Being a parent is nearly an impossible job, especially within the system we are currently in.

    You weren’t given a playbook.

Good news, it’s never too late to strengthen or rebuild family dynamics + stop the chaos.

  • You’re a caring person, but it feels like you never receive the care you need.

Before I was a therapist, I worked as a caretaker for elder adults and special needs children and adults.

You have a lot on your plate. I’m happy to help carry that with you.

  • No, these events are for women and nonbinary people.

  • No, sorry!

While I would love to have you there, that could potentially violate HIPAA + the BHEC LMFT Code of Ethics.

  • The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

We don’t exist in a vacuum - we exist within systems. Whether that's our family, our schools, our communities, our jobs, our state, country, political system, + more.

How much of our personal suffering is due to the pressure of systems we reside within?

  • Have you ever noticed how different parts of yourself show up in different places, depending on the people you’re around?

    That’s IFS.

We have many parts that serve different functions for us. There are no bad parts, just misunderstood ones.

It’s nice to meet you

Heather James, LMFT-A

It can be scary looking for a therapist. You’re supposed to trust this random stranger you found on the internet with your deepest darkest secrets????

I hear you. I’ve been there. Before I was a therapist, I was a young girl trying to find my way in the world, navigating the aftermath of my childhood + trying to find myself. I also sought therapy, and it changed my life.

My goal as a therapist is to be your witness, to hold a non-judgmental space that maybe you’ve never experienced before. To evaluate your patterns + the patterns of those who came before you, then help you break them. I wish to walk alongside you on your journey of finding yourself again. Then, through finding yourself, develop skills to connect better with those you love and those who love you.

You’re worth the investment.

Our Story

I started Radical Therapy + Wellness with the hope of helping others heal from their childhoods. It didn’t even have to be that “bad”. Misattunement in childhood - for whatever reason - causes damage to our attachment, both to ourselves and others.

Being chronically unwell without a healthy support system can cause us to get sick mentally + physically. My goal is to hold space for you and whatever you bring to session. To learn to trust again, both in yourself + others.

You’re Worth the Investment.
